Episode 18 – Victory in Losing?

by admin on January 10, 2016

In this week’s episode we talk about dealing with jokes about your vision loss.  We share a real story of the blind literally leading the blind.  We are baffled by some folks in the UK being mean to a visually impaired little girl.  Finally we talk about if sometimes it is okay to give in to the fear a little bit and take care of yourself.  (hopefully the answer is yes)

Good podcast!!! You don’t have to be in every battle as long as you never give up the fight – something like that :-).
Love you guys!

Just found your podcast via Sampler. I have retinopathy of prematurity, although pretty decent vision (20/300). I loved the part of this episode about the other blind guy bumping into you. Once I almost ran head on into a blind person walking toward me using a cane. Often I count on other people to see me coming and moving to the side so as to not walk directly into me, but if that person coming toward me is blind, that strategy doesn’t quite work out. In my instance, my immediate reaction was to start laughing because the idea of me, a visually impaired person, running into another blind person head on is obviously hilarious. But then I had to explain myself very quickly so that the blind person wouldn’t think I was laughing AT them. They walked by very quickly and I’m not sure they understood what had happened…Anyway, I very much enjoy the podcast and look forward to catching up on pst episodes.
